Exp3 The Valley + Lumion

Valley sundam:

Sundam is located five kilometers northwest of Cheorwon-gun (a suburb of South Korea) and it  is one of the most beautiful valleys among the branches of the Hantangang River. It has views of fascinating rock-formations, steep cliffs and ponds.

EXP2 Final Submission

The Chosen Parallel Projection Drawing:

Frei Otto- Transparency: openness gives no barrier between the exterior and the core
+
Alisa Andrasek- Geometry: network of patterns creates a homogeneous form

The Three Textures:

Light - applied on the monument of Alisa Andrasek

Medium - applied on the 'ring' in between the cuvilinear and the rectilinear monuments

Dark - applied on the middle U shaped level of Frei otto's monumnet

The Five Image Captures:

Rear view
As it is shown in this picture, the geometrical form of the rectilinear monument illustrates balance.

Top view

Side view - right
This image shows that the monuments are almost integrated into the nature, emphasising that there is 'no barrier' between them.

Side view - left
This image shows the connection between the two monuments. The curvilinear and the rectilinear forms are seamlessly connected so that it demonstrates the idea of 'openness gives no barrier between the exterior and the core'.

EXP2. The Two Architects

Alisa Andrasek

  • Alisa Andrasek was born in Croatia and lives/works in London.
  • She is an architect and curator and directs Graduate Architectural Design at the UCL Bartlett School of Architecture.
  • She is an experimental practitioner and research based educator of architecture and computational processes in design.
  • She has taught and lectured at a number of universities worldwide.
  • She is the founder of Biothing, a cross-disciplinary laboratory that focuses on the generative potential of computational geometry and software development.

Five concepts:
-Deconstruction
-Geometry: network of patterns creates a homogeneous form
-Experimental: attraction and repulsion create dynamic forms
-Repetition: repetition creates a structure
-Nature: No boundaries between shapes creates fluidity

Frei Otto

  • Frei Otto was born in Siegmar and studied architecture in Berlin.
  • He is an architect and engineer and is the world's leading authority on lightweight tensile and membrane structures.
  • He has pioneered advances in structural mathematics and civil engineering.
  • He was concerned with space frames and structural efficiency and experimented with inflatable buildings.
  • The extraordinary depth and breadth of his research have made him one of the greatest architect-engineers of all time

Five concepts:
-Lightweight: Creating shelters with a limited amount of materials
-Efficiency: empty spaces are nonessential
-Flexibility
-Transparency: openness gives no barrier between the exterior and the core
-Biological: nature has ready design
